María Fernanda Malo Juvera Raimond Kedilhac, 22, of Mexico almost won Miss Grand International 2019. She was the first runner-up of the seventh edition of the international beauty pageant Nawat Itsaragrisil founded in 2013.
Hosted by Leo Aldana, 35, of Venezuela and Miss Grand International 2018 Clara Sosa, 26, of Paraguay, the Miss Grand International 2019 coronation night took place at the Poliedro de Caracas, Caracas, Venezuela on October 25, 2019. It was the first time the contest was held in Latin America.
It was Lourdes Valentina Figuera Morales, 19, of Puerto La Cruz, Anzoátegui, Venezuela who was crowned Miss Grand International 2019. She bested 59 other candidates including Malo.
Hailing from Huixquilucan de Degollado, Huixquilucan, Mexico, Malo is currently studying Marketing and Fashion Design. She is also pursuing a career in modelling.
Malo previously competed in Miss México 2018. She finished in the Top 5, losing to Vanessa Ponce de León, who went on to become Miss World 2018.
Mexico has yet to have a Miss Grand International. Malo is the beauty pageant’s first ever runner-up from the country.
Arayha Suparurk, 24, Thailand, was Miss Grand International 2019 second runner-up. Carmen Irina Drayton, 23, of Panama and Marjorie Marcelle Corrêa Angelotti, 23, Brazil were the respective third and fourth runners-up.
Dayton was Best in Swimsuit while Mara Štefica Topić, 24, Ecuador was Best in National Costume and Camila Namie Escribens, 21, of Peru was Best in Evening Gown. Nguyễn Hà Kiều Loan, 19, Vietnam made it to the Top 20 by winning the Miss Popular Vote award.
Nguyễn went on to proceed to the Top 10 but did not make it to the Top 5. Topić, Escribens, Taylor Marlene Curry, 23, Australia and Hazel Marie Ortíz Méndez, 22, of Puerto Rico also finished in the Top 10.
Before the Miss Grand International 2019 coronation night ended, Aldana announced that Figuera is crowning her successor in 2020 also in Venezuela. Watch the coronation night here:
