Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, 47, attended the “UFC 244” weigh-ins in New York, United States on November 1, 2019. The actor presented the BMF belt, which will be given to the winner of the main event.

Holding a belt is nothing new to Johnson. When he was a professional wrestler, he was a record-breaking world champion who competed in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), which is now called World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), for eight years.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will hold the “UFC 244” fight night at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York on November 2, 2019. Competing for the BMF belt are Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal, 34, of Miami, Florida, USA and Nate Diaz, 34, of Stockton, California, USA.

“UFC 244” will feature 12 mixed martial arts bouts. In the main event, Masvidal and Diaz will battle it out in the welterweight division.

Johnson will attended the fight night to present the BMF belt to the main event winner. While his attendance has been announced, the rumored appearance of U.S. president Donald Trump has yet to be confirmed.

Prior to “UFC 244,” Masvidal won nine out of 15 bouts in the UFC. The most recent one was a knockout victory against former ONE Welterweight World Champion Ben “Funky” Askren, 35, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA at “UFC 239” at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, USA on July 6, 2019.

Masvidal knocked out Asken via flying knee in just 5 seconds in the first round. It is the fastest knockout in the UFC so far.

Born in Miami on November 12, 1984, Masvidal is of Cuban and Peruvian descent. He has been competing professionally since 2003.

Knocking out Askren improved the professional MMA record of Masvidal to 34 wins and 13 losses. On the other hand, Diaz currently has 20 wins and 11 losses and is coming out of a victory like Masvidal.

On August 17, 2019, Diaz earned his 13th victory in the UFC. He defeated Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, 32, of Milwaukee via unanimous decision at “UFC 241” at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Before the “UFC 244” weigh-ins, Johnson attended the “UFC 245” press conference at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. The actor and former professional wrestler announced that he will play retired MMA fighter Mark “The Smashing Machine” Kerr, 50, in a film.

“I’ve been a fan of MMA for a very long time,”Johnson said. “When you think about the world of MMA, from my perspective, there’s individuals and warriors in MMA. They’ve achieved incredible accomplishments and that’s what I want the world to see.”

“Mark Kerr’s story is such an incredible story,” Johnson continued. “Here’s a guy that won the UFC heavyweight tournament twice, went over to Pride.”
