Filipino-American twins Jesse Perkins and Christian Perkins, collaboratively known as the Perkins Twins, will star in the film “Kaibigan” (Friend) with Hollywood actor Stephen Baldwin. The twins are multi-awarded recording and dance artists who are also staunch advocates against drugs, bullying, alcohol and smoking and promote purity.
Well accepted and sought after in the campus circle, The Perkins Twins has already made the rounds and performed in more than 1,000 school campuses and 90 malls nationwide over the past three years. With strong and solid social media presence, their combined following to date is capped at 300,000 with more than 200,000 followers on Facebook and the stats are steadily growing, signaling to an aggressive spread of their popularity.
Now, Jesse and Christian are using their voice to give positive influence to their fellow youngsters. The twins are strongly connecting to the millennial generation as they take the lead in “Kaibigan,” their first venture in the local film.
Directed by Daniel Tan, “Kaibigan” delves on the challenges, struggles, changes and the strong bonds of friendship among family and friends. It speaks of a beautiful journey towards personal transformation and restoration of relationships, especially that of the family.
Tarny Perkins, the father of The Perkins Twins, executive produced “Kaibigan.” He co-wrote the screenplay with Jesse and Christian.
Baldwin and Tirso Cruz play the respective fathers of Jesse and Christian’s characters in “Kaibigan.” The twins’ characters in the family-oriented film are not siblings.
Also in the “Kaibigan” cast are Cesar Montano and Alvin Anson. The two co-starred in the 2005 war film “The Great Raid” with Benjamin Bratt, James Franco and Joseph Fiennes.
Joining Jesse, Christian, Baldwin, Cruz, Montano and Anson in “Kaibigan” are veteran Filipino thespians Jean Garcia, Lani Mercado and Boots Anson-Roa. Also in the cast are Victor Basa, Emmanuelle Vera, Janina Vela, Janine Rubin, Danica Ontengco, Judah Paolo, Bani Baldisseri and Venus Raj while Danica Sotto, Tim Cone and Vince Hizon make guest appearances.
The Perkins Twins are excited to be on tour and set foot on school campuses again and in various malls to connect with their followers and promote their inspiring movie and the movie theme song also titled “Kaibigan.” The song is beautifully penned by well-respected composer Vehnee Saturno and will be released soon.
