Team Lakay’s Gina Iniong vs India’s Asha Roka at ‘ONE: Fire and Fury’ in Manila, Philippines

Fresh from the 30th Southeast Asian Games, Gina “Conviction” Iniong, 30, is returning to the ONE Championship cage. Training out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, the Igorot mixed martial artist will face Asha “Knockout Queen” Roka, 21, of India.

ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Fire and Fury” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on January 31, 2020. It will be the Singapore-based martial arts organization’s second event in 2020.

Iniong and Roka will compete in the women’s atomweight division at “ONE: Fire and Fury.” The Team Lakay fighter is the Indian contender’s first ever Filipino opponent in a professional MMA bout.

Born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India on October 4, 1998, Roka has been competing professionally since 2017. In 2017, she defeated four opponents in Super Fight League namely Anjela Pink of the United States; Rajni Devi of India; Hannah Kampf, 29, of the U.S. and Liz Pereira of England.

On August 16, 2019, Roka made her ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Dreams of Gold” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. She was submitted via rear naked choke by Stamp Fairtex, 22, of Thailand.


Losing to Stamp downgraded Roka’s professional MMA record to 4 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Iniong now has 8 wins and 4 losses.

As an MMA fighter, Iniong has been competing professionally since 2010. She joined ONE Championship in 2017.

From 2017 to 2019, Iniong defeated four opponents in ONE Championship namely Natalie “The Kilapino” Hills, 31, of Australia; Priscilla “Thathi” Hertati Lumban Gaol, 31, of Indonesia; Jenny “Lady Go Go” Huang, 28, of Taiwan and Jihin “Shadowcat” Radzuan, 21, of Malaysia. The only two opponents the Team Lakay fighter failed to defeat in the Singapore-based martial arts organization were Mei “V.V.” Yamaguchi, 36, of Japan and Istela Nunes, 27, of Brazil.

As a kickboxer, Iniong represented the Philippines in the recently concluded SEA Games 2019. She won the gold medal in the -55kg light kick category in kickboxing by defeating La Thi Nga, 18, of Vietnam in the semi-finals and Mingkhwan Apichaya, 21, of Thailand in the final match.
