Rustam “Russian Bear” Chsiev (Рустам Чсиев), 34, of Vladikavkaz, Russia was originally set to face Ole Magnor, 31, of Oslo, Norway at “BRAVE CF 34.” However, the Norwegian mixed martial artist was pulled out from the fight card and was replaced by Romain Debienne, 23, of France.
In partnership with WFC, BRAVE CF will hold “BRAVE CF 34” in Ljubljana, Slovenia on January 19, 2020. In the first bout of the evening, Chsiev and Debienne will battle it out in the middleweight division.
Despite the opponent change, Chsiev still has the same goal. That is to win and work towards a title shot against BRAVE CF Middleweight World Champion Daniel “Gaúcho” Pereira, 28, of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil.
Chsiev got his first BRAVE Combat Federation win last October, as he dominated Tarek Suleiman en route to a decision victory that catapulted him near the top of the weight class. With a new opponent in his sights, Rustam wants to show the world he can be a force to be reckoned with at MMA, after balancing the start of his career in the sport with a brilliant grappling career, that included a bronze medal at the ADCC tournament in 2015.
“MMA is still a new sport to me, I’ve been a grappler my whole life. I like it a lot, I love fighting, not only using my wrestling and grappling, but I love to fight stand-up. I believe I can win on January 19th and, of course, I will be ready for the title”, says “The Russian Bear”, who’s not fazed by the change of opponents on short notice.
“I don’t really care too much about changing opponents. If you are a real warrior, and someone wants to fight you, you have to go on and fight, no questions asked. You just have to keep going and that is my mindset”.
BRAVE CF 34 will be headlined by a WFC Heavyweight title fight between Viktor Vasic and Luka Podkrajsek, as well as feature BRAVE CF bouts, including the much-anticipated returns of Phil Hawes, who takes on Iuri Fraga at Middleweight, and former Flyweight title contender Velimurad Alkhasov, who welcomes Zach Makovsky to the BRAVE CF fold.
