Mongolia’s Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg earns 1st ONE Championship win, knocks out China’s Ma Jia Wen at ‘ONE: A New Tomorrow’ in Thailand

Representing Mongolia, Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg (З.Шинэчагтга), 23, has earned his first victory in ONE Championship. The ONE Warrior Series alum was one of the winners at “ONE: A New Tomorrow.”

Featuring six mixed martial arts matches, five Muay Thai contests and one kickboxing bout, ONE Championship held “ONE: A New Tomorrow” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on January 10, 2020. In the fourth bout of the evening, Zoltsetseg competed in an MMA bout in the featherweight division against “Cannon” Ma Jia Wen (马嘉文 ), 23, of China.

Olivier Coste served as the referee. From the opening bell, Zoltsetseg was aggressive as he was actively seeking to finish with explosive striking combinations.

Zoltsetseg caught Ma coming in, connecting on a thudding overhand right that turned the lights out on the Chinese athlete. The Mongolian contender threw 29 total strikes, seven of which were significant strikes to the head.

Coste put a stop to the featherweight contest after 55 seconds in the first round when Zoltsegtseg knocked out Ma. Winning at “ONE: A New Tomorrow” improved the professional MMA record of the Mongolian fighter to 6 wins and 2 losses while his Chinese opponent now has 6 wins and 3 losses.

Including Mongolia and China, 15 countries were represented at “ONE: A New Tomorrow.” The other countries were Algeria, Brazil, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia,  the Philippines, Russia, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam.

Ma was one of the two representatives of China. He is training out of Tianjin I Fitness in Tianjin, China,

Training out of Zorky MMA in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Zoltsetseg solely represented Mongolia. He made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: A New Tomorrow.”

From 2018 to 2019, Zoltsetseg won five out of six ONE Warrior Series bouts and now, he is riding a four-bout winning streak. Originally, he and Ma were set to fight at “ONE: Age of Dragons” in Beijing, China on November 16, 2019 but the bout was cancelled.
