Fighting out of the Philippines, Roel “Akiyama” Rosauro, 31, has earned his first victory in ONE Championship. The Filipino mixed martial artist was one of the winners at “ONE: A New Tomorrow.”
Featuring six MMA matches, five Muay Thai contests and one kickboxing bout, ONE Championship held “ONE: A New Tomorrow” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on January 10, 2020. In the first bout of the evening, Rosauro competed in an MMA bout in the featherweight division against Yohan Mulia “The Ice Man” Legowo, 39, of Magelang, Indonesia with Yoshinori Umeki as the referee.
For three rounds, Rosauro put together a clinical display of striking. The Filipino national Muay Thai champion tagged Legowo with punishing combinations to the head and midsection.
Although Legowo would give Rosauro a good challenge, the Filipino contender was a step behind constantly throughout the bout. After three five minute-rounds, the featherweight bout was left in the hands of the judges.
In the end, Umeki raised the hand of Rosauro. The Cebu City native was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
Winning at “ONE: A New Tomorrow” improved the professional MMA record of Rosauro to 5 wins and 3 losses. It was his third ONE Championship bout.
On the other hand, it was Legowo’s eighth ONE Championship bout. He now has 8 wins and 9 losses.
Including Indonesia and the Philippines, 15 countries were represented at “ONE: A New Tomorrow.” The other countries were Algeria, Brazil, China, France, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Russia, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam.
Legowo was the only representative of Indonesia. He is training out of Han Fight Academy and IndoGym.
Training out of Yaw-Yan Ardigma Cebu, Rosauro solely the Philippines. In 2018, he lost to two ONE Championship opponents namely “The Underdog” Li Kai Wen, 24, of China and “The Terminator” Sunoto, 34, of Indonesia.
