Gina “Conviction” Iniong, 30, will compete in ONE Championship almost two months after winning gold at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. Training out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, the Igorot mixed martial artist will face Asha “Knockout Queen” Roka, 21, of India at “ONE: Fire and Fury” on January 31, 2020.

ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Fire and Fury” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It will be the Singapore-based martial arts promotion’s first event in the country in 2020.

In the third bout of the evening, Iniong and Roka will compete in the women’s atomweight division. The Team Lakay fighter is the Indian contender’s first ever Filipino opponent in a professional MMA bout.

“Right now, the only thing on my mind is beating Asha Roka,” Iniong said. “That is what I am training for. I will take things one fight at a time.”

“I believe in my abilities and trust in my team,” Iniong continued. “Whatever opportunities come after, I will take it.”

Currently, Iniong holds a professional MMA record of 8 wins and 4 losses. She has 4 wins and 2 losses in ONE Championship.

“Asha Roka is a striker who has very good boxing,” Iniong said of her “ONE: Fire and Fury” opponent. “I think her weakness may be in her ground game. I think I am the more well-rounded fighter. That is the difference between us.”

“I am excited to climb the ring for ONE Championship again and even more so that this event is in Manila,” Iniong said. “I want to make the Filipino fans proud again so I am looking to give a good performance.”

Including Iniong, five Team Lakay fighters are on the “ONE: Fire and Fury” card. The others are Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang, 26, Danny “The King” Kingad, 24, former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 35, and ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 23.
