Fighting out of Japan and South Korea, Yoshihiro Akiyama (秋山 成勲), 44, is set to return to the ONE Championship state. Also known as Choo Sung-Hoon (추성훈), the mixed martial arts veteran will face Sherif “The Shark” Mohamed, 36, of Egypt at “ONE: King of the Jungle.”

Featuring mixed martial arts bouts and kickboxing contests, ONE Championship will hold “ONE: King of the Jungle” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on February 28, 2020. One of the MMA bouts is between Akiyama and Mohamed, who will battle it out in the welterweight division.

“ONE: King of the Jungle” marks the second ONE Championship bout of Akiyama. It is Mohamed’s fourth bout in the Singapore-based martial arts organization.

Both Akiyama and Mohamed are coming out of two consecutive losses. The Egyptian contender lost to Agilan “The Alligator” Thani, 24, of Malaysia on August 18, 2017 at “ONE: Quest for Greatness” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and to “King Kong Warrior” Fan Rong, 25, of China at “ONE: Legendary Quest” on June 15, 2019 in Shanghai, China.

“ONE: Quest for Greatness” also marked Akiyama’s ONE Championship debut. He lost to Thani via unanimous decision.

Akiyama competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship from 2009 to 2015. He went on hiatus from 2016 to 2018 and came out of retirement in 2019 by joining ONE Championship.

The main event of “ONE: King of the Jungle” is a rematch between reigning ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion Stamp Fairtex of Thailand and her challenger Janet “JT” Todd, 34, of California, United States. In the first encounter between the two, which was at “ONE: Call to Greatness” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on February 22, 2019, the Thai fighter became the inaugural ONE Muay Thai Atomweight World Champion by defeating her Japanese-American opponent.

Reigning NE Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao of Thailand will face ONE Super Series debutante Rocky Ogden of Australia in the co-main event of “ONE: King of the Jungle.” They will compete for the inaugural ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion.
