Luka Podkrajsek, 30, of Slovenia and Viktor Vasic, 35, of Bosnia and Herzegovina headlined “WFC 24” at the Tivoli Hall in Ljubljana, Slovenia on January 19, 2020. They battled it out for the inaugural heavyweight championship of the Slovenian mixed martial arts promotion World Freefight Challenge.

“WFC 24” was held simultaneously with “BRAVE CF 34” as part of the partnership between WFC and BRAVE Combat Federation, which is based in Bahrain. BRAVE CF made its first incursion in the Balkans in a packed Tivoli Hall as the only truly global MMA organization has landed with a rousing success in Slovenia.

In the main event of “BRAVE CF 34” and “WFC 24,” Podkrajsek and Vasic competed in three five-minute rounds. The Slovenian contender edged his Bosnian opponent in an amazing main event and became the inaugural WFC Heavyweight champion.

Podkrajsek and Vasic fought with reckless abandon from the start as they traded hard blows in the opening minutes. The Slovenian contender looked for a takedown and got it in the second round.

In the final frame, however, Vasic was superior and nearly snatched the victory Podkrajsek. After three five-minute rounds, the inaugural WFC Heavyweight Championship was left in the hands of the judges.

Two of the three judges scored it 29-28 in favor of the inaugural WFC Heavyweight Champion. The third one saw it 28-29.

In the end, the referee raised the hand of Podkrajsek. The hometown hero was declared the winner via split decision, making him still an undefeated MMA fighter.

Winning at “WFC 24” improved the professional MMA record of Podkrajsek to 4 wins and 0 loss. It was his third bout in WFC.

On the other hand, Vasic now has 6 wins and 4 losses. It was his second WFC fight.
