National Basketball Association legend Kobe Bean Bryant, 41, died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Los Angeles, California, United States on January 26, 2020 with his daughter Gianna Maria-Onore Bryant, 13. They were on their way to her basketball practice in the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, California.
Several American football stars took to Twitter to pay tribute to Kobe including defensive end J.J. Watt, 30, cornerback Richard Sherman, 31, quarterbacks Tom Brady, 42, Patrick Mahomes II, 24, and Baker Mayfield, 24, as well as soccer players Alex Morgan, 30, and Megan Rapinoe, 34. Former NFL players tweeted about his death, as well, including retired football tight ends Shannon Sharpe, 51, and Rob Gronkowski, 30.
Even football stars from other countries tweeted about Kobe and Gianna. Among them were Italian professional footballer Lorenzo Insigne, 28, Armenian professional footballer Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 31, German professional footballer Thomas Müller, 30, and Uruguayan professional footballer Luis Suarez, 33.
