Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang before facing Pongsiri Mitsatit: I’m coming with a surprise

Lito “The Thunder Kid” Adiwang, 26, was one of the seven “ONE: Fire and Fury” fighters featured in the open workout at One Esplanade in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on January 28, 2020. He is training out of the Team Lakay gym in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines.

Featuring nine mixed martial arts matches and three Muay Thai contests, ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Fire and Fury” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on January 31, 2020. In the fourth bout of the evening, Adiwang will compete in the strawweight bout against Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit, 23, of Thailand.

“I am excited to perform in front of all the Filipino fans here in Manila,” Adiwang said. “It has always been a dream of mine to compete on the biggest stage here in my home country.”

“You don’t want to miss what’s going to happen on Friday night,” the Team Lakay fighter continued. “The Thunder Kid is coming with a surprise for all the fans.”

The open workout was hosted by Mitch “The Dragon” Chilson, 41, of the United States. The other fighters who participated in the event were Alex “Little Rock” Silva, 37, of Brazil, Jomary “The Zamboanganian Fighter” Torres, 24, of the Philippines and Adiwang’s Team Lakay teammates Danny “The King” Kingad, 24, Gina “Conviction” Iniong, 30, former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 35, and reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 23.

Competing professionally since 2012, Adiwang won three bouts in ONE Warriors Series from 2018 to 2019. The Igorot MMA fighter defeated Jose “Tick” Huerta, 28, of the United States, Alber “War Machine” Correia, 22, of Brazil and Anthony “The Antidote” Do, 26, of the U.S.

On October 12, 2019, Adiwang made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Century 世紀” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan. He knocked out Senzo Ikeda, 37, of Japan.

Winning at “ONE: Century 世紀” improved the professional MMA record of Adiwang to 10 wins and 2 losses. On the other hand, Mitsatit currently has 10 wins and 4 losses.
