Pongsiri PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym, 29, of Thailand and Sean “Clubber” Clancy, 31, of Ireland will headline “ONE: A New Breed 2” in Bangkok, Thailand on September 11, 2020. Before the fight night, Lito “The Thunder Kid” Adiwang, 27, of the Philippines shared his prediction for the fight.
“It’s champion versus champion in the main event,” Adiwang said. “Sean Clancy is a technical fighter from Ireland who went to Thailand to train and fight there and eventually become a champion. He’s even faced some legends of the sport like Saenchai. That’s how talented and good he is but in this fight, I have to go for Pongsiri.”
Pongsiri and Clancy will battle it out in a Muay Thai contest in the bantamweight division. It marks the debut of the Irish fighter in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.
“I believe Pongsiri will bring everything he’s got into this fight,” Adiwang shared. “For me, he has the edge in experience and his fighting style is aggressive. He’s a pressure fighter who loves to come forward.”
“I see him winning the fight by attacking with powerful striking combinations,” Adiwang said of Pongsiri. The Filipino mixed martial artist added that the Thai fighter will put the pressure on Clancy “until he breaks him down” but wished both contenders “the best of luck.”
Training out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, Adiwang is a ONE Warrior Series alum. On October 12, 2019, the Igorot MMA fighter made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Century 世紀” in Tokyo, Japan where he knocked out Senzo Ikeda, 37, of Japan.
Before the new coronavirus (COVID-19) restricted MMA events around the world, Adiwang earned his second ONE Championship win. He submitted Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit, 24, of Thailand at “ONE: Fire and Fury” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on January 31, 2020.
