Training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore, Eko Roni Saputra, 28, of Indonesia has earned his third victory in ONE Championship. He was one of the winners at “ONE: Warrior’s Code.”

Featuring three Muay Thai contests and eight mixed martial arts bouts, ONE Championship held “ONE: Warrior’s Code” at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia on February 7, 2020. In the eighth bout of the evening, Saputra competed in an MMA bout in the flyweight division against Khon Sichan, 32, of Cambodia with Yoshiniro Umeki as the referee.

A multiple-time Indonesian wrestling champion, Saputra took control right off the bat. He took Sichan down almost immediately.

After a brief return to the feet, Saputra took the action to the ground once again and this time made his way to top position. From there, he began to unload punches and elbows.

Eventually, Saputra took Sichan’s back. Umeki put a stop to the flyweight contest after 3 minutes and 45 seconds in the third round when the Evolve MMA representative locked in the submission to force the tap.

Losing to Saputra downgraded the professional MMA record of Kim to 10 wins and 5 losses. It was the second ONE Championship bout of the Cambodian contender, who is training out of Phnom Penh MMA and Prodal Fight Gym.

On the other hand, it marked Matushima’s fourth outing in ONE Championship. He now has 12 wins and 4 losses.

Including Cambodia and Indonesia, 15 countries were represented at “ONE: Warrior’s Code.” The others were Australia, Brazil,  Cyprus, Italy, Japan, Moldova, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Timor Leste and the United Kingdom.

Sichan solely represented South Korea. Saputra was one of the seven fighters who represented the host country.

The first ONE Championship opponent Saputra defeated was Kaji “Alpha” Ebin, 27, of the Philippines. Meanwhile, here is a “ONE: Warrior’s Code” recap:
