Training out of Evolve MMA in Singapore, Eko Roni Saputra, 28, of Indonesia was one of the winners at “ONE: Reign of Dynasties.” It was his third victory in the Singapore-based martial arts organization ONE Championship.
Featuring five mixed martial arts matches and one Muay Thai title bout, “ONE: Reign of Dynasties” is a closed-door event held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on October 9, 2020. In the third bout of the evening, Saputra fought Murugan “Wolverine” Silvarajoo, 29, of Malaysia in an MMA contest at a catch weight of 63.5kg.
Mohamad Sulaiman served as the referee. A multiple-time Indonesian national wrestling champion, Saputra put forth a spectacular performance, dominating Silvarajoo to earn a first-round finish.
At the sound of the opening bell, Saputra quickly chased Silvarajoo across the cage. The Indonesian MMA fighter unloaded a series of powerful boxing combinations against the fence as his Malaysian opponent covered up.
Sulaiman put a stop to the catchweight contest after 2 minutes and 29 seconds in the first round. Taking Silvarajoo down to the mat, Saputra smoothly advanced to the bout-ending submission, using his feet to tweak his Malaysian opponent’s shoulder in a highly technical joint lock maneuver to force the tap shortly after.
It was Saputra’s second submission finish as a professional MMA fighter. Winning at “ONE: Reign of Dynasties” improved his professional MMA record to 3 wins and 1 loss and he is now riding a three-bout winning streak.
On the other hand, Silvarajoo now has 3 wins and 2 losses. He made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Reign of Dynasties.”
Saputra made his professional MMA debut on April 12, 2019 at “ONE: Roots of Honor,” which also marked his ONE Championship debut. He was knocked out by Niko Soe, 27, of Singapore.
After the unsuccessful promotional debut, Saputra went on two defeat two opponents before facing Silvarajoo. The Indonesian MMA fighter knocked out Kaji “Alpha” Ebin, 28, of the Philippines at “ONE: Dawn of Valor” on October 25, 2019 and submitted Khon Sichan, 32, of Cambodia at “ONE: Warrior’s Code” on February 7, 2020.
