Japan’s Kanta Motoyama earns 2nd ONE Warrior Series win, beats Arkansas’ Michael Walker in Singapore

Kanta Motoyama (基山幹太) of Itami, Hyogo, Japan was one of the winners at “ONE Warrior Series 10.” It was his second fight and second victory in the ONE Championship subsidiary.

Featuring two kickboxing bouts and 12 mixed martial arts matches, “ONE Warrior Series 10” took place in Singapore on February 19, 2020. In the ninth bout of the evening, Motoyama competed in a kickboxing contest at a catch weight of 62 kg against Michael Walker, 22, of Sherwood, Arkansas, United States.

After three three-minute rounds, the catchweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, the referee raised the hand of Motoyama and declared the Japanese kickboxer as the winner via unanimous decision.

Motoyama is training out of KICKLAB in Nishinomiya, Hyogo. He made his ONE Warrior Series debut at “ONE Warrior Series 8” at the Bellesalle Shibuya Garden in Tokyo, Japan on October 5, 2019.

“ONE Warrior Series 8” featured 11 MMA bouts, three kickboxing contests and one Muay Thai match. In the first bout of the evening, Motoyama defeated Cep Holik of Indonesia via unanimous decision in a kickboxing bout.


Including Walker, each of the five “ONE Warrior Series 10” fighters who won a Warrior Bonus received a six-figure contract with ONE Championship. The other recipients were Marc “The Gyrocopter” Grayson, 31, of Australia, Min Hyuk Lee of South Korea and Ryoji Kudo, 26, and Koji “Animal” Shikuwa, 28, of Japan.

“What a card from top to bottom!” ONE Warrior Series CEO Rich Franklin stated. “Tonight, we gave out more bonuses to warriors who lost their matches than those who won.”

Including Australia, Japan, South Korea and the U.S., 16 countries were represented at “ONE Warrior Series 10.” The others were Brunei Darussalam, Egypt, Estonia, India, Iran, Malaysia, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Ukraine, Pakistan, South Africa and Thailand.

Among the top ONE Warrior Series alums are Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang, 26, of the Philippines and Mark “Tyson” Fairtex Abelardo, 28, of New Zealand. Meanwhile, watch all the “ONE Warrior Series 10” bouts here:
