Lucas “Mineiro” Martins, 31, of Sao Paulo, Brazil is set to make his much anticipated return to the BRAVE Combat Federation cage. The former BRAVE CF Lightweight World Champion is another major addition to the stacked “BRAVE CF 35” fight card.

BRAVE CF will hold “BRAVE CF 35” in Balneário Camboriú, Catarina, Brazil on March 28, 2020. One of the matches is a lightweight contest between Martins and Abdul-Rakhman “Soulman” Makhazhiev (Абдул-Рахман Махажиев), 27, of Grozny, Russia.

Makhazhiev is coming out of a successful BRAVE CF debut. In his promotional debut on December 14, 2019 at “BRAVE CF 32” in Kyrgyzstan, he submitted Sanzhar “Sapsan” Azhibaev (Ажибаев Санжар) of Kyrgyzstan via submission in the very first round.

Currently, Makhazhiev holds a professional MMA record of 9 wins and 5 losses. On the other hand, Martins has 20 wins and 5 losses.

After spending two years challenging and defending world titles in five-round marathons, Martins is returning to a three-round match. In his last appearance, which was at “BRAVE CF 34” on July 25, 2019 in London, England, the Brazilian striking artist was defeated by BRAVE CF Featherweight World Champion Bubba “Bad Man” Jenkins, 32, of California, United States.

“BRAVE CF 35” is the fifth BRAVE CF event to take place in Brazil. This will make the South American country the number one home of the promotion alongside the Kingdom of Bahrain.

This will be the first BRAVE CF event in Brazil to be promoted by the promotion outside of Curitiba and Belo Horizonte. In the main event, Guram Kutateladze, 28, of Sweden will challenge reigning BRAVE CF Lightweight Champion Cleiton “Predador” Silva, 34, of Belo Horizonte, marking the defending champion’s first title defense.

Martins has been competing professionally since 2011. “BRAVE CF 35” marks his fifth appearance in BRAVE CF.

From 2014 to 2016, Martins competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Here is a clip featuring the former BRAVE CF Lightweight World Champion:
