Denice “The Menace Fairtex” Zamboanga, 23, of the Philippines was one of the winners at “ONE: King of the Jungle.” It was the undefeated Filipino mixed martial artist’s second victory in ONE Championship.

Featuring one Muay Thai title bout, one kickboxing title bout and nine MMA matches, “ONE: King of the Jungle” was a closed-door event held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. In the sixth bout of the evening, Zamboanga competed in an MMA match in the women’s atomweight division against Mei “V.V.” Yamaguchi, 37, of Japan.

Kemp Cheng served as the referee. Zamboanga was accurate and powerful, connecting on a volley of explosive boxing combinations.

By the end of the first round, Yamaguchi’s face already showed the wear of a warrior who has been through war. She tried to nullify Zamboanga’s striking by taking matters to the ground.

But Zamboanga exhibited impeccable takedown defense, stopping most of Yamaguchi’s takedown attempts. After three five-minute rounds, the atomweight contest was left in the hands of the judges.

In the end, Cheng raised the hand of Zamboanga. The undefeated Filipino MMA fighter was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

In the post-fight interview inside the cage, Mitch “The Dragon” Chilson had a great news for Zamboanga. According to the color commentator, ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirmed that she just earned a title shot against reigning ONE Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 23, of Singapore.

By winning at “ONE: King of the Jungle,” Zamboanga was able to maintain her undefeated professional MMA record as she now has 4 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Yamaguchi downgraded to 21 wins, 12 losses and 1 draw.

Including Japan and the Philippines, 13 countries were represented at “ONE: King of the Jungle.” The others were Australia, Canada, Egypt, India, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States.

Yamaguchi was one of the four fighters who represented Japan at “ONE: King of the Jungle.” It was her 10th ONE Championship bout.

Training out of Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand, Zamboanga was one of the three representatives of the Philippines. “ONE: King of the Jungle” marked her second outing in ONE Championship.

The Fairtex Gym athlete has been competing professionally since 2018. In her ONE Championship debut, she defeated Jihin Radzuan of Malaysia.
