Searcy, Arkansas’s Bryce Mitchell earns 3rd UFC win at ‘UFC 249’ in Jacksonville, Florida

Undefeated mixed martial artist Bryce “Thug Nasty” Mitchell, 25, of Searcy, Arkansas, United States was one of the winners at “UFC 249.” It was his third victory in the MMA promotion Ultimate Fighting Championship, which is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Featuring 11 MMA matches, “UFC 249” took place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, USA on May 9, 2020. In the second bout of the evening, Mitchell fought Charles “Boston Strong” Rosa, 33, of Coconut Creek, Florida in the featherweight division.

Keith Peterson served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the featherweight contest was left in the hands of the judges, who scored it 30-25, 30-25 and 30-24.

In the end, Miragliotta raised the hand of Mitchell. The Searcy native was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

 

In 2018, Mitchell participated in “The Ultimate Fighter 27.” In the finale, he defeated Tyler Diamond, 29, of Oroville, California, USA.

Competing professionally since 2015, Mitchell joined the UFC in 2019. The first two opponents he defeated in the promotion were Bobby “The Wolfman” Moffett, 29, of Homewood, Illinois, USA and Matt “Robo” Sayles, 26, of San Diego, California.

Winning at “UFC 249” improved the professional MMA record of Mitchell to 13 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Rosa now has 12 wins and 4 losses.

Seven countries were represented at “UFC 249” namely were Brazil, Cameroon, Cape Verde, France, Russia, Suriname and the U.S. Mitchell and Rosa were two of the 16 fighters who represented the U.S.

While almost all major international sports events have been either cancelled or postponed, the UFC held “UFC 249” amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As of May 9, 2020, the U.S. listed 1,346,354 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 80,007 died from a disease caused by the virus and 236,825 recovered from it.
