Five “Parasite” actors were invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 2020. Including South Korea, 68 countries were represented on the list of invitees.
Directed by Bong Joon Ho, “Parasite” premiered at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2019 and became the first ever Palme d’Or winner from South Korea. Here are the five members of the cast invited to Academy Awards:

Seven members of the “Parasite” crew were also invited as new members of the Academy Awards namely Choi Se Yeon, Yang Jin Mo, Jung Jae Il, Kwak Sin-Ae, Lee Ha Jun, Choi Tae Young and Han Jin Won, who worked on the film’s costume design, editing, music, production, production design, sound and screenplay, respectively. Han co-wrote the film with the director.
