Professionally known as Vanilla Ice, Robert Matthew Van Winkle is the rapper behind the song “Ice Ice Baby.” He is also an actor, a television host and a construction contractor.

Ice grew up in Texas, United States and South Florida, USA. He is the son of Camilla Beth Dickerson, who was born in Lamar, Aransas County, Texas on April 30, 1944 to Odis Glenn Dickerson and Nina Margarite Dickerson.

In 1997, Ice married Laura Giaritta but they started living apart in 2011 and in October 2016, she filed for divorce, which was finalized in November 2019. Their two daughters Dustin Rain Van Winkle and KeeLee Breeze Van Winkle were born in 1998 and in 2000, respectively.

  2. His first stepfather was William Vasil Van Winkle. Camilla and William divorced in 1971.

  5. In 1983, he wrote “Ice Ice Baby,” which was released on August 22, 1990. It was included in his major debut studio album “To the Extreme.” The lyrics of the song was based on his experiences in South Florida.

  7. In January 1987, he was was stabbed five times in his thigh and buttocks during a scuffle outside of City Lights, a dance club in Dallas. He stayed in the hospital for 10 days and lost four pints of blood.
