Patrixia Shirley Santos, 27, of Daraga, Albay almost won Miss Philippines Earth 2020. Crowned Miss Philippines Earth-Air 2020, she was one of the runners-up of the 20th edition of the beauty pageant.
It was the second time Santos competed in the environmental-themed contest. She was unplaced in Miss Philippines Earth 2014.
Santos was unplaced when she competed in Binibining Pilipinas 2010 and in Miss World Philippines 2018. She finished in the Top 20 when she competed in Miss World Philippines 2019.
From 2004 to 2008, Santos attended Saint Agnes Academy in Legazpi City, Albay. From 2008 to 2012, she went to Bicol University in Legazpi City, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English, English Language and Literature.
From 2012 to 2019, Santos went to the University of the Philippines where she earned her Juris Doctorate degree. Since September 2019, she has been serving as a special investigator at the Facr-Finding, Investigation and Enforcement Department of the Philippines Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
Including Santos, 33 candidates competed in Miss Philippines Earth 2020. She succeeded Miss Philippines Earth-Air 2019 Ana Monica Tan of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
It was Roxanne Allison Baeyens, 23, of Baguio City who won the Miss Philippines Earth 2020 title. The other runners-up were Miss Philippines Earth-Eco Tourism 2020 Ilyssa Marie Mendoza, 19, of Melbourne, Australia, Miss Philippines Earth-Water 2020 Maria Gianna Llanes, 24, of Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila and Miss Philippines Earth-Fire 2020 Marie Sherry Ann “Shane” Quintana Tormes, 28, of Atimonan, Quezon.
The Miss Philippines Earth 2020 coronation night was held virtually because of the ongoing new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Hosted by Paolo Bediones, it aired on GMA Network on July 5, 2020.
Miss Earth 2005 Alexandra Braun, 37, of Venezuela and Miss Earth 2010 Nicole Faria, 30, of India were among the judges. Also in the panel of judges were Miss World Philippines 1975 Suzanne Talam Gonzalez-Gommer, GMA Network Inc. first vice president Jose Mari Abacan, Hana Shampoo maker Peerless Products marketing director Carlos Bacani and Maleki GmbH founder Matthias Gelber.
Baeyens, Tormes and Lyka Chamberlaigneh Lagasca, 20, of La-lo, Cagayan received the Social Media Award, Hana Beauty and Miss Eco Award, respectively. Santos won the gold medal in one of the preliminary events, which is the creative category of the talent competition.
