Stamp Fairtex knocks out Sunisa Srisen at ‘ONE: No Surrender’ in Bangkok, Thailand

Sunisa “Thunderstorm” Srisen, 19, of Thailand made her ONE Championship debut at “ONE: No Surrender.” She was welcoming to the Singapore-based martial arts promotion by her fellow Thai mixed martial artist “Stamp Fairtex” Natthawan Panthong (แสตมป์ แฟร์เท็กซ์), 22.

Featuring three Muay Thai, two mixed martial arts and one kickboxing bouts, “ONE: No Surrender” took place in Bangkok, Thailand on July 31, 2020. The third bout of the evening was the MMA match in the women’s atomweight between Stamp and Sunisa.

Nick Chapman served as the referee. At the sound of the first round bell, Stamp came out aggressively, looking for the Thai clinch and began unloading on a plethora of hard knees to the midsection once she had Srisen secured in close quarters.

Srisen showed incredible toughness in enduring Stamp’s offensive barrage but the end came shortly after. Stamp capitalized on a botched takedown from Srisen, winding up on her opponent’s back

Chapman put a stop to the atomweight bout after 3 minutes and 59 seconds in the first round. Stamp she finished the bout with a series of punches making her the first athlete to defeat Srisen in a professional MMA bout.

 

Four countries were represented at “ONE: No Surrender” namely Brazil, New Zealand, the Philippines and Thailand. Stamp and Srisan were two of the 10 athletes who represented the host country.

Srisen trains out of Mister Kok Gym in Bangkok. Stamp is a product of Fairtex Gym in Pattaya, Thailand.

In 2018, Stamp made her professional MMA debut in Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series Season 2. In 2019, she officially joined ONE Championship competed both in MMA and in Muay Thai and kickboxing under the promotion’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.

Winning at “ONE: No Surrender” improved the professional MMA record of Stamp to 5 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Srisen now has 3 wins and 1 loss.

“It feels good to get back into training full swing and of course, I’m happy to be fighting again after taking a break for a few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Stamp stated days before fight night. “I’m excited to get in the ring with my opponent. I’ve studied her style from her previous fights.”

“She’s strong and has very good speed,” Stamp said of Srisen. “I’ll see what I can do in this fight. It’s definitely a worthy challenge.”

“I’ve also improved a lot since my last bout,” Stamp added. “I want to thank all the fans for their continued support.”

“Taking on a superstar like Stamp Fairtex in my first outing for ONE Championship, I know it’s a big challenge for me,” Srisen stated days before fight night. “I know I’m going into this fight as the underdog. Everyone in the world will be expecting Stamp to beat me but I’m prepared for that.”

“I’m prepared to walk into a hostile environment and I’m prepared to score the upset,” Srisen continued. “I just want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity. I will give it my very best.”

Srisan made her professional MMA debut in Full Metal Dojo and won all of her three fights in the promotion from 2016 to 2017. She went on hiatus in 2018 and 2019 so “ONE: No Surrender” marked her professional MMA return.
