Hungary’s Adam Borics earns 6th Bellator win, beats Mike Hamel in Uncasville, Connecticut

Adam “The Kid” Borics, 27, of Sirok, Heves, Hungary was one of the winners at “Bellator 242.” Training at Sanford MMA in Florida, United States, the Hungarian mixed martial artist earned his sixth victory in Bellator MMA.

Featuring 10 MMA bouts, “Bellator 242” took place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA on August 7, 2020. In the sixth bout of the evening, Borics fought Mike “Magic” Hamel, 27, of Gilbert, Arizona, USA at a catch weight of 154.6 lbs.

Dan Miragliotta served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the catchweight bout was left in the hands of the three judges.

Two judges saw it 29-28 in favor of the fighter in the red corner. One judge also scored it 29-28 but in favor of the fighter in the blue corner.

In the end, Miragliotta raised the hand of Borics. The Sanford MMA representative was declared the winner via split decision.

It was the second time Borics won a professional MMA bout via split decision. The first one was at “Final Fight Championship 10” on October 23, 2015 at the Drazen Petrovic Hall in Zagreb, Croatia where he defeated Matija Blazicevic, 32, of Zagreb.

Winning at “Bellator 242” improved the professional MMA record of Borics to 15 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Hamel now has 7 wins and 4 losses.

It was a redemptive win for Borics. The Sirok native was coming out of his first professional MMA loss.


Born on July 7, 1993 in Sirok, Borics moved to Eger, Hungary after high school. He attended Semmelweis Egyetem Testnevelési és Sporttudományi Kar (SE-TSK) in Budapest, Hungary.

In 2009, Borics started his martial arts training. He became a member of Eger Shootfighters Klub and competed in kempo.

As an MMA fighter, Borics has been competing professionally since 2014. Before joining Bellator MMA, he competed in Hungarian Fight Championship and Final Fight Championship.

In 2017, Borics made his Bellator MMA debut. The first five opponents he defeated in the promotion were Anthony Taylor, Teodor Nikolov, Josenaldo Silva, Aaron Pico and Pat Curran.

On January 25, 2020, Borics’ undefeated record was broken. The Hungarian MMA fighter was submitted by Darrion “The Wolf” Caldwell in the co-main event of “Bellator 238” at the Forum in Inglewood, California, USA.
