Jake previously lived in Cape Coral, Florida, USA and in Eatontown, New Jersey, USA. He is the bassist of a band called Silverhaze.

On August 7, 2020, Jake and Jay Randolph McDougle, then 37, of Hanover attended a Black Lives Matter protest on Hanover Square in Hanover as counter-protesters. They are both not convinced that George Floyd died because of how he was arrested by former Minneapolis Police Department officers  Derek Michael Chauvin, Tou Nmn Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Kiernan Lane on May 25, 2020 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA.

Reenacting what Chauvin did to Floyd, McDougle knelt on the neck of Wiatrak, who was lying face down on the ground, in front of the protesters. On August 11, 2020, McDougle told The York Dispatch, “It was a bad judgment call to try to demonstrate in public like that over a very controversial topic.”

According to McDougle, he and Wiatrak went to the protest “to have a civil discussion about the signs”. Somewhere along the way, Wiatrak “wanted to point out that kneeling on the back of the neck would not lead to asphyxiation”, McDougle explained.

McDougle apologized for what he and Wiatrak did. On the other hand, the latter kept mum.

On May 17, 2021, Wiatrak was charged with two counts related to driving under the influence, a registration violation, an inspection violation, having an open alcohol container in a vehicle and careless driving in Conewago Township, Adams County. The case was waived to county court.
