Richard Barlett Schroder is an actor and film director. He was billed as Ricky Schroder as a child actor and usually as Rick Schroder as an adult.

Schroder was born in Brooklyn, New York, United States to former AT&T employees Richard John Schroder and Diane Katherine Bartlett. Here are 13 more things about Rick:


  1. He was 9 years old when “The Champ” was released in 1979. He played Timothy Joseph “T.J.” Flynn in the film which marked his professional acting debut.
  2. From 1982 to 1987, he played Ricky Stratton in NBC series “Silver Spoons.”
  3. In 1992, he married Andrea Bernard. They have four children together. In 2016, she filed for divorce.

Amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in May 2021, he took to social media to share a video of himself harassing a Cosco employee about the company’s policy requiring face masks or coverings be worn inside stores. The video went viral and he was widely criticized so he posted another video apologizing to the employee.
