Newly crowned Miss Universe 2020 Alma Andrea Meza Carmona, 26, of Chihuahua City, Mexico, who is professionally known as Andrea Meza, is an unmarried woman. However, some beauty pageant fans who want her dethroned immediately claim otherwise.
The evidence the rumormongers cite was a photo posted by Mexican model Jorge Saenz on Instagram on September 3, 2019. In the photo, he and Meza hold each other and they look like they either just got married or are about to get married.
On September 4, 2019, Mexican filmmaker Daniel Hawk also posted on Instagram a similar photo of Meza and Saenz apparently taken in the same area. Like in Saenz’s post, the Instagram account of Chihuahua City’s tourism agency is tagged.
Apparently, Meza is a tourism ambassador of Chihuahua. The wedding photos Saenz and Hawk posted in September 2019 were taken for her hometown’s tourism campaign.
Chihuahua is the largest state in Mexico by area. One of the smallest breeds of dog is named after the state.
In the first place. Meza would not be allowed to compete in Mexicana Universal 2020 if she was married. If she was married and wanted to keep it a secret, she would tell the groom not to post any evidence of their wedding online.
On November 29, 2020, Meza became Mexico’s official Miss Universe 2020 candidate by outperforming 30 other Mexicana Universal 2020 candidates. She was crowned at the Hotel Misión Grand Juriquilla in Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico.
On May 16, 2021, Meza was crowned Miss Universe 2020 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida, United States. She is the third Mexican woman to win the title following Lupita Jones, 53, and Ximena Navarrete, 33, who were crowned in 1991 and in 2010, respectively.
