Ben Royle earns 1st ONE Championship win, knocks out Quitin Thomas at ‘ONE: No Surrender 3’ in Thailand

Ben Royle, 25, of Gorton, Tameside, England, United Kingdom has earned his first victory in ONE Championship. The English mixed martial artist was one of the “ONE: No Surrender 3” winners.

Featuring four Muay Thai and two MMA matches, “ONE: No Surrender 3” took place in Bangkok, Thailand on August 21, 2020. In the first bout of the evening, Royle fought Quitin Thomas, 28, of Florence, South Carolina, United States in an MMA contest in the featherweight division.

Nick Chapman served as the referee. Although Royle and Thomas are primarily grapplers, the entire bout was spent on the feet as both fighters preferred to trade strikes.

In the second round, a leg kick hurt Thomas, who was close to being finished. However, Royle had a hard time putting his American opponent away.

Chapman put a stop to the featherweight contest after 3 minutes and 27 seconds in the third round. Royle knocked out Thomas via strikes.

 

Winning at “ONE: No Surrender improved the professional MMA record of Royle to 5 wins and 1 loss while Thomas now has 1 win and 1 loss. Before joining ONE Championship, the English MMA fighter competed in Full Metal Dojo and Eternal MMA.

Both Royle and Thomas were ONE Championship debutantes based in Chalong, Mueang Phuket, Thailand. The former was a UKFC Featherweight Champion.

Eight countries were represented at “ONE: No Surrender 3” namely Australia, Cambodia, Estonia, France, Japan, Thailand, the U.K. and the U.S. Royle and Thomas solely represented the U.K. and the U.S., respectively.

 

Born on January 6, 1995, Royle made his professional MMA debut in 2017. He trains at Phuket Top Team Muay Thai and MMA Training Camp in Chalong.

On the other hand, Thomas trains at Tiger Muay Thai in Chalong. As an amateur fighter, he had 14 wins and 2 losses and in 2017, he won five fights in the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation.

On January 24, 2020, Thomas successfully made his professional MMA debut. He knocked out Chitnuphong Sommuttiram of Thailand at the “TFC Fight Night 2,” a Thailand Fighting Championship event that took place at the Rawai Boxing Stadium in Phuket.

Thomas was born on July 26, 1992. He graduated from Lake City High School in Lake City, South Carolina in 2011.
