Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai, 31, of Thailand has earned his eighth victory in ONE Championship. The Thai mixed martial artist was one of the “ONE: No Surrender 3” winners.
Featuring four Muay Thai and two MMA matches, “ONE: No Surrender 3” took place in Bangkok, Thailand on August 21, 2020. In the fourth bout of the evening, Wiratchai fought Fabio Pinca, 36, of France in an MMA bout in the featherweight division.
Nick Chapman served as the referee. In the early going, Wiratchai started strong, controlling the pace with well-placed counters and dropping Pinca at the end of the first round.
Pinca opened up the second round with slicing elbows on the inside but he was dropped by a spinning backfist from Wiratchai. In the third and final round, the French contender turned up the aggression as he got more comfortable on the feet.
After three five-minute rounds, the featherweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Chapman raised the hand of Wiratchai, who was declared the winner via split decision.
Winning at “ONE: No Surrender improved the professional MMA record of Wiratchai to 10 wins and 6 losses. On the other hand, Pinca now has 0 win and 1 loss.
A World Boxing Council Muay Thai Champion, Pinca made his professional MMA debut at “ONE: No Surrender 3,” which marked his second ONE Championship outing. He trains at Team RS in Sicily, Italy.
Pinca holds a professional Muay Thai record of 99 wins, 24 losses and 4 draws. When he made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Heroes of Honor” on April 20, 2018 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, he lost via unanimous decision to Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, 34, of Thailand in a Muay Thai bout at a catch weight of 67kg.
On the other hand, Wiratchai is a Thai Naksu Champion and “ONE: No Surrender 3” marked his 15th outing in ONE Championship. The first seven opponents he defeated in the promotion were Mitch Chilson, Amir Khan, Kyal Linn Aung, Peter Davis, Richard Corminal, Rajinder Singh Meena and Rahul Raju.
Eight countries were represented at “ONE: No Surrender 3” namely Australia, Cambodia, Estonia, France, Japan, Thailand, the U.K. and the U.S. Pinca solely represented France while Wiratchai was one of the five representatives of the host country.
