Justin Rose

Justin Rose, 40, Paul Casey, 43, and Matt Wallace, 30, are among the 13 golfers from England participating in the 2020 United States Open Championship. The others are Andy Sullivan, Danny Willett, Eddie Pepperell, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Paul Waring, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton and Tom Lewis.

The 2020 U.S. Open will take place at the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York, USA from September 17–20, 2020. Including the seven South African golfers, 144 players will compete in the 120th edition of the tournament.

When the annual open national championship of golf in the U.S. was established in 1895, Horace Rawlins of England became the inaugural winner. The next champions from England were George Sargent in 1909, Jim Barnes in 1921, Cyril Walker in 1924, Tony Jacklin in 1970 and Rose in 2013.

Rose was born to English parents Ken Rose and Annie Rose in Johannesburg, South Africa on July 30, 1980. Competing professionally since 1998, he won the Olympic Games on August 14, 2016, the WGC-HSBC Champions on October 29, 2017, the Indonesian Masters on December 17, 2017, the Turkish Airlines Open on November 5, 2017 and on November 4, 2018, the Fort Worth Invitational on May 27, 2018 and the Farmers Insurance Open on January 27, 2019.

Born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England on July 21, 1977, Casey attended Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, USA. Competing professionally since 2000, he won the Valspar Championship on March 11, 2018 and on March 24, 2019 and the Porsche European Open on September 8, 2019.

Wallace, who was born in Hillingdon, England on April 12, 1990, attended Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, USA. He turned professional in 2012 and won Open de Portugal on May 14, 2017, the Hero Indian Open on March 11, 2018, the BMW International Open on June 24, 2018 and Made in Denmark on September 2, 2018.

Including England and the U.S., 27 countries from six continents are represented. The others are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile,  Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Scotland, Slovakia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and Thailand.

Due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the 144-player field consists entirely of exempt players. Professional golfers Daniel Chopra, 46, of Sweden and Anthony Kang, 47, of South Korea will co-host the golf tournament with former professional cricketer Jason de la Peña, 47, of England live on FOX Sports 2 from September 18-21, 2020.
