India’s Ritu Phogat earns 3rd ONE Championship win, knocks out Nou Srey Pov at ‘ONE: Inside the Matrix’ in Singapore

Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat, 26, of India has earned her third victory in ONE Championship. The undefeated Indian mixed martial artist has been competing in the Singapore-based martial arts organization since 2019.

Training at Evolve MMA in Singapore, Phogat fought Nou Srey Pov, 25, of Cambodia at “ONE: Inside the Matrix.” ONE Championship held the MMA event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on October 30, 2020.

Phogat is 156cm tall. Pov, who is 1cm shorter, trains at Kun Khmer Warriors Fight Team in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

“ONE: Inside the Matrix” featured six MMA matches, four of which are title bouts. It was the first sporting event in Singapore that allows for a limited live audience since it moved into the second phase of its reopening amid the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

 

In the first bout of the evening, Phogat and Pov battled it out in the atomweight division. Mohamad Sulaiman served as the referee.

Phogat dominated the first round, landing multiple takedowns while doing damage on the ground in dominant position. She landed a pair of solid right hands before taking Nou down to the ground again in the second round.

Sulaiman put a stop to the atomweight contest after 2 minutes and 2 seconds in the second round. Phogat knocked out Pov via strikes.

 

Winning at “ONE: Inside the Matrix” improved the professional MMA record of Phogat to 3 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Pov now has 1 win and 2 losses.

A total of 12 countries were represented at “ONE: Inside the Matrix” namely Australia, Cambodia, China, India, Italy, Moldova, Myanmar, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Singapore, the United States and Vietnam. Phogat solely represented India while Pov was the sole representative of Cambodia.

 

Born on May 2, 1994, Phogat was a wrestler before becoming a professional MMA fighter. In 2016, she won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship.

On November 16, 2019, Phogat made her ONE Championship debut, which was also her professional MMA debut. She knocked out Nam Hee “Captain Marvel” Kim of South Korea.

On February 28, 2020, Phogat fought “Miss Red” Wu Chiao Chen (吳巧貞), 36, of Taiwan. The Indian MMA fighter won via unanimous decision.
