Pieter Buist, Timofey Nastyukhin to co-headline ‘ONE: Inside the Matrix 2’ in Singapore

Pieter “The Archangel” Buist, 32, of Breda, North Brabant, Netherlands will fight Timofey Nastyukhin, 30, of Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Oblast, Russia at “ONE: Inside the Matrix II” in Singapore. It will be the co-main event of the evening.

ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Inside the Matrix II” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 6, 2020. On the fight card are five mixed martial arts matches and one Muay Thai contest.

Buist is currently ranked third among the lightweight contenders of ONE Championship. Nastyukhin is ranked fourth.

The last time Nastyukhin competed was on March 31, 2019. He knocked out Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez, 36, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States via punches in the first round at “ONE: Dawn of Heroes” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

 

Beating Alvarez improved Nastyukin’s professional MMA record to 13 wins and 4 losses. The Russian MMA fighter has been competing in ONE Championship since 2014.

Competing professionally since 2012, Buist joined ONE Championship in 2019. He defeated his first three opponents in the Singapore-based martial arts promotion namely Kota “Harato” Shimoishi (下石康太), 33, of Osaka-shi, Osaka, Japan, Antonio “The Spartan” Caruso, 29, of Adelaide, South Australia, Australia and Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 35, of Baguio City, Philippines.

When Buist made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Warriors of Light” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on May 10, 2019, he knocked out Shimoishi in the second round.

On October 25, 2019, Buist defeated Caruso via unanimous decision at “ONE: Dawn of Valor” at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia. Folayang lost to Buist via split decision at “ONE: Fire and Fury” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Caruso and Folayang battled it out at “ONE: Inside the Matrix” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on October 30, 2020. After winning via unanimous decision, the Australian contender expressed his interest in having a rematch with Buist.

After three consecutive ONE Championship wins, Buist improved his professional MMA record to 17 wins and 4 losses. He is now riding an eight-bout winning streak.
