Joseph “The Hurricane” Lasiri, 29, of Milan, Italy was one of the winners at “ONE: Inside the Matrix IV.” It was the Moroccan-Italian martial artist’s second victory in ONE Championship‘s striking-only league ONE Super Series.
Training at Team Kick and Punch in Lombardia, Italy and Sitjaopho Muay Thai Gym in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand, Lasiri fought Rocky Ogden, 21, of Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia at “ONE: Inside the Matrix IV,” which featured three mixed martial arts matches, one Muay Thai contest and one kickboxing fight. ONE Championship taped the combat sports event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore before airing it on November 20, 2020.
In the fourth bout of the evening, Ogden and Lasiri battled it out in a Muay Thai bout at a catch weight of 59kg. Elias Dolaptsis served as the referee.
After three three-minute rounds, the Muay Thai bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Dolaptsis raised the hand of Lasiri, who was declared the winner via split decision.
Winning at “ONE: Inside the Matrix IV” improved the professional Muay Thai record of Lasiri to 41 wins and 11 losses. On the other hand, Ogden now has 36 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw.
Seven countries were represented at “ONE: Inside the Matrix IV” namely Australia, Brazil, China, Italy, Japan, Russia and South Korea. Ogden and Lasiri solely represented Australia and Italy, respectively.
Lasiri is 170cm tall. Ogden, who is 2cm shorter, trains at Boonchu Gym in Burleigh Heads, Queensland.
Lasiri was born in Monza, Italy on July 19, 1991 to Moroccan parents. He is a World Boxing Council (WBC) Muaythai Bantamweight Champion.
The first four ONE Super Series fights of Lasiri did not work out well for him. He lost to Sam-A Gaiyanghadao of Thailand on January 26, 2018 in the Philippines, to Singtongnoi Por. Telakun of Thailand on May 18, 2018 in Singapore, to Josh “Timebomb” Tonna of Australia on October 26, 2018 and to Jonathan Haggerty of England in Indonesia on January 18, 2019.
On March 31, 2019, Lasiri earned his first ONE Super Series win by defeating Hiroki Akimoto of Japan in Japan. On September 6, 2019, the Moroccan-Italian Muay Thai fighter lost to Mongkolpetch Petchyindee of Thailand in Vietnam.
