Jamaine “The Technician” Ortiz, 24, of Massachusetts, United States managed to keep his undefeated professional boxing record intact in his most recent bout. In his most recent fight, he outperformed a formerly undefeated Ugandan opponent.
Ortiz and Sulaiman Segawa, 29, of Kampala, Uganda battled it out in the lightweight division. They competed for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) – United States National Boxing Council (USNBC) silver lightweight title.
It was set for eight rounds and Ray Corona served as the referee. He put a stop to the WBC-USNBC silver lightweight title bout in the seventh round when Ortiz knocked out Segawa.
Beating Segawa improved the professional boxing record of Ortiz to 14 wins and 0 loss. It was the fifth time the Massachusetts native knocked out an opponent in a professional boxing bout.
On the other hand, Segawa now has 13 wins and 1 loss. It was his ninth professional boxing bout held in the U.S.
The lightweight match between Ortiz and Segawa was one of the undercard bouts of the boxing event held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, USA in the evening of November 28, 2020. The main event was an exhibition fight between boxing legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.
Tyson and Jones battled it out in the heavyweight division. During the weigh-ins, they weighed 220.4lbs and 210lbs, respectively.
