Tiffany Lashae Pontes Dover, 30, is alive according the Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) Memorial Hospital. She is a nurse manager in the hospital, which is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States.
On December 17, 2020, three physicians and three nurses working at the hospital received the new coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine from Pfizer live on television. Dover was one of them.
Around 17 minutes after getting the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, Dover fainted while speaking to local news. She recovered immediately and explained that she has a condition called Vasovagal Syncope saying, “I have a history of having an over-active vagal response and so with that, if I have pain from anything, a hangnail or if I stub my toe, I just pass out.”
Since then, nothing has been heard from Dover, which led to the rumor claiming that she died after being vaccinated. It has been three days since her vaccination and thousands of people from around the world are demanding answers but it seems like they are talking to a wall.
To calm people down, CHI Memorial Hospital released a statement on December 20, 2020 claiming that Dover is at home and doing well. Instead of putting to rest people’s questions, the statement gave birth to more questions.
The first emergency use authorization that allows the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to be distributed in the U.S. was issued on December 11, 2020 by the U.S. Food and Drugs Administration (FDA). Fainting after getting a vaccine is due to the vaccination process and not to the vaccines themselves, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Why did Dover volunteer to get the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine knowing that she had Vasovagal Syncope and the goal is to change the minds of antivaxxers?
Pain at the injection site, tiredness, headache, muscle pain, chills, joint pain and fever are the most commonly reported side effects of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine enumerated by the FDA. Explaining Dover’s fainting after getting the vaccine, CHI Memorial Hospital critical care physician Jesse L. Tucker said, “The fainting episode is not an adverse reaction to the vaccine but related to her medical condition.”
If Dover wants privacy, why are her social media accounts still public?
Dover posts regularly on social media. Her most recent posts were on December 12, 2020 on Facebook and on December 13, 2020 on Instagram.
Based on Dover’s social media accounts, she loves taking photos and videos and sharing them publicly. Her social media accounts are inactive now that the world badly needs to see at least one photo or one video from her.
As of December 21, 2020, the countries with the highest number of COVID-19 cases are the U.S., India, Brazil, Russia and France, according to Worldometers. People not only from the U.S. but also from other countries particularly Brazil are inundating the social media accounts of CHI Memorial Hospital, Dover and her family and friends with questions but they are not getting answers.
This makes people think Dover has died and no one knows her social media passwords so her accounts could not be set to private. However, on December 20, 2020, the list of her Facebook friends, which were originally public, became private.
If Dover is still alive, why is she allowing this unrest?
As a nurse, Dover would hate to be the reason why thousands of people around the world are being anxious rationally or irrationally. As a COVID-19 vaccine proponent, she would not allow herself to be the reason why the campaign is now questionable.
Those who are asking about Dover’s condition are not merely being nosy. They deserve to be given evidence that the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine did not directly harm her.
This is literally a matter of life and death. The best person to answer all these questions is Dover herself.
