New Jersey’s Bryan Thompson hits 10 people, 4 cars with bat in New York City

Bryan Thompson, 43, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, United States was recently arrested and was taken to Bellevue Hospital on 462 First Avenue in New York City, New York, USA for a psychiatric evaluation. This was after he attacked 10 people and smashed four vehicles with a wooden weapon in the city.

The attack started at around 6:35 p.m. and ended at around 7:15 p.m. on January 2, 2021. Here is the list of the victims he hit with the wooden object:

At the Canal Street and Varick Street subway station in SoHo, he hit a man, 56, a woman, 39, from New Jersey and a teenage boy, 18, over the head. The victims were waiting for the No. 1 train, according to the New York Daily News.

He hit a female Metropolitan Transportation Authority worker, 39, three times near Varick and Canal streets and another man, 37, in a parked running black sports utility vehicle (SUV) on 7th Avenue. He got in the vehicle, sped off and crashed it after striking two parked vehicles near Laight Street and Sixth Avenue.

He then smashed the rear window of a 2006 Ford Taurus and unsuccessfully removed a woman inside it.

He broke the side window of a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee and unsuccessfully entered the vehicle but the female driver, 32, inside was injured by the flying shards of glass.

He attacked a man, 42, from Texas in the arm and another woman, 41, in the leg near the Hilton Garden Inn.

He hit a parked 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee in front of 66 West Broadway. The man, 33, inside it ran away so he drove it and sped off. With the stolen vehicle, he struck a New York Police Department patrol car near West 24th Street and 12th Avenue and crashed into a center median. When the responding officers asked him to get out of the vehicle, he refused so they had to break the driver-side window and taser him.

Police arrested Thompson at around 9:00 p.m. on January 2, 2010 on the West Side Highway. Charges against him were pending, according to 1010 Wins.
