Kelvin Gastelum, 29, of Yuma, Arizona, United States has earned his 10th victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The Mexican-American mixed martial artist was one of the winners at “UFC 258.”
Featuring 10 MMA matches, “UFC 258” took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on February 13, 2021. In the eighth bout of the evening, Gastelum fought Ian “The Hurrican” Heinisch, 32, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, USA in the middleweight division.
Mark Smith served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the middleweight contest was left in the hands of the three judges namely Bryan Miner, Ron McCarthy and Derek Cleary.
Both Miner and Cleary scored in 29-28 while McCarthy saw it 30-27 all in favor of Gastelum. In the end, Smith raised the hand of the Yuma native, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
It was Heinisch’s third loss in the UFC. He now holds a professional MMA record of 14 wins and 4 losses.
Gastelum was coming out of three consecutive losses from 2019 to 2020. Winning at “UFC 258” improved his professional MMA record to 16 wins, 6 losses, 0 draw and 1 No Contest.
