Bryan Caraway, 36, is accused of stealing an all-terrain vehicle owned by his former girlfriend Miesha Tate, 34. They are both mixed martial artists who previously competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Caraway was born in Yakima, Washington, United States while Tate was born in Tacoma, Washington. She attended Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Kittitas County, Washington where she met him.
Tate took back her ATV from Caraway on December 18, 2018. He bought an insurance policy for the vehicle on December 21, 2018 and filed a claim that it was stolen on December 24, 2018.
When Caraway contacted the insurance company, he said when he and Tate were still dating, he bought the ATV along with a battery charger, a spare tire and helmets for $18,500. He showed a forged vehicle title showing that she had gifted him the vehicle in January 2018.
On January 1, 2018, Tate announced that she is in a relationship with Johnny Nuñez, 35, of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, who is also an MMA fighter. She gave birth to their daughter Amaia Nevaeh Nuñez on June 4, 2018.
When Caraway withdrew his claim about Tate’s ATV, the insurance company referred the case to the insurance commissioner’s office in Benton County, Washington, USA. Tate later found out about the forged title and she reported it to the Richland Police Department in Richland, Benton County in December 2019.
On January 12, 2021, Caraway was charged with fraud, first-degree attempted theft, filing a false insurance claim and making a false statement on a vehicle title in Benton County, according to the charging document obtained by ESPN. He failed to appear in Benton County Superior Court.
A bench warrant for Caraway’s arrest was issued on February 4, 2021. On February 10, 2021, Caraway was placed on the insurance fraud most-wanted list of Benton County insurance commissioner Mike Kriedler.
After calling the prosecutor’s office, Caraway was removed from the list. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for March 11, 2021.
Caraway made his professional MMA debut in 2005 and competed in the UFC from 2012 to 2018. He has not competed again since defeating Raja Shippen, 34, of Dana Point, California via unanimous decision at “Battlefield FC 2” in Macau, China on July 27, 2019.
Competing professionally since 2007, Tate fought in the UFC from 2013 to 2016. She was the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion from March 5, 2016 to July 9, 2016.
After losing to Raquel Pennington, 32, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA at “UFC 205” on November 12, 2016, Tate announced her retirement from MMA. In 2018, Tate joined ONE Championship as a vice president.
