Guy Wesley Reffitt, 48, of Wylie, Texas, United States is still behind bars. U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui decided to keep him detained in jail pending trial after an almost two-hour hearing in Washington, D.C., USA on March 15, 2021.
Reffitt and his wife Nicole Reffitt, 48, have three children namely Sarah Reffitt, 23, Jackson Reffitt, 18, and Peyton Reffitt, 16. Peyton confirmed some of the accusations against her father during the recent hearing in Washington, D.C. but she said she did not believe he was dangerous if he were to be released.
Guy is a member of the Texas chapter of the extremist paramilitary group Three Percenters. He was caught on camera participating in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, which he allegedly confirmed to Jackson and Peyton.
According to Peyton, her father told her and Jackson that if they turned him in, they were traitors, and “traitors get shot.” She also testified in court that her father is not a violent person, CNN quoted her as saying.
“He just says things,” Peyton said of Guy. “He talks a lot. That’s just him being a drama queen.”
“I wasn’t in fear, I guess,” Peyton continued. “It was annoying in a way.”
Jackson was not scared of his father’s alleged threat either. The teenager even alerted the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his father’s alleged role in the U.S. Capitol riot.
“I want people to know how awful this political strain can be on certain people and I feel like I should have to have the voice to tell people that it’s okay to come forward,” Jackson told ABC News. “Your moral compass is going to be absolutely just the right thing.”
When FBI agents arrested Guy at his home in Wylie on January 16, 2021, they found an AR-15 rifle and a Smith & Wesson pistol. He was charged with obstruction of justice and unlawful entry.
