Tristen Blake Sullivan, 29, of Franklinton, Washington Parish, Louisiana, United States has been arrested. He was charged with hit and run driving, death or serious bodily injury, negligent homicide, improper lane use, driving under suspension and three counts of negligent injuring.
Sullivan allegedly drove a Ford F250 pickup that struck a Chevrolet Tahoe head-on near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 22 and Garden Drive in Madisonville, Saint Tammany Parish, Louisiana just before 10:00 p.m. on March 20, 2021. He allegedly abandoned his car and fled on foot after the crash.
The man driving the Chevrolet Tahoe was Anthony Lewis, 38, of Marrero, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. He was rushed to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Aside from Lewis, the vehicle also had four other passengers who were rushed to a hospital. As of March 21, 2021, one of them is in critical condition.
The passengers were Lewis’s fiancée Mursheika Hall and her two daughters and one son. The daughters had minor injuries while the son required surgeries.
Lewis worked as a school bus driver in New Orleans, USA. He also worked as a truck driver to provide for Hall and her three children.
While Lewis was not the biological father of Hall’s three children, he considered them as his own. She told WWLTV, “He was like ‘I didn’t have them but I love them like they’re mine.'”
Hours before Lewis died, he and Hall drove to Madisonville with her three children for a long overdue family gathering and went paintballing. They were on their way home Marrero when Sullivan’s car crashed on the family’s car.
This is not the first time Sullivan was arrested. He was one of the four people arrested by a female deputy from the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office on December 3, 2021.
That day, Sullivan was in a car that belonged to him with James Lynch of Bogalusa, Washington Parish and his fellow Franklinton residents Joseph Michael Easterling and Laken Breanna Magee, Fox 8 Live reported. They fired shots from an assault rifle when they passed near the vehicle of the deputy who was on patrol.
Sullivan was charged with criminal mischief and open container violation. He told authorities his driver’s license was under suspension due to a previous driving while intoxicated (DWI) offense so he let Magee drive.
In October 2015, Sullivan was arrested for driving with a suspended license in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana and in December 2017, he was arrested for the same offense in the same parish. On March 24, 2021, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office announced that he was arrested in connection with the crash that killed Lewis.
