Milford, Connecticut’s Joseph Rohrig arrested, accused of telling man to go back to China

 

Joseph Vincent Rohrig, 38, of Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut, United States has been arrested. He was charged with harassment in the second degree and intimidation based on bigotry and bias in the third degree.

Rohrig is accused of harassing another man in Naugatuck, New Haven County on March 30, 2021. The former allegedly pulled up in his car in front of the latter, who was wearing a face mask while walking in the area of Hill Street and West Town Street in Naugatuck.

“Go back to China,” Rohrig allegedly told the man. Afterwards, the suspect allegedly reversed his car, pointing it towards the victim whose name was not released.

On April 1, 2021, police located Rohrig and took him into custody. The Milford resident was later released and is expected to appear in court on May 10, 2021, according to NBC Connecticut.

 

Rohrig works as a certified individual home improvement contractor in Milford. He has a twin brother named Jared Scott Rohrig, a former police officer in Orange, New Haven County.

Joseph is married to Bianca Rohrig. He and Jared are the eldest sons of Scott Rohrig, owner of Lasse’s Restaurant, and Joanne Lasse Rohrig, a Republican city clerk in Milford.

Jared was 25 years old when he made headlines after accused of pretending to be Joseph and had sex with Joseph’s then girlfriend in July 2009. She realized she was having sex with Jared because he did not have a tattoo like Joseph.

According to the woman, she asked Jared to stop but he still continued. The alleged assault took place in the house of the twin brothers in Milford.

Charged with  first-degree sexual assault and criminal impersonation, Jared pleaded not guilty on October 7, 2009. On March 9, 2012, he pleaded no contest to first-degree unlawful restraint and criminal impersonation and was sentenced him to a suspended five-year prison term, New Haven Register reported.
