Ricky Amos, 56, of Richmond, Contra Costa County, California, United States has been arrested by the El Cerrito Police Department. The department is looking at charging him with not only battery and vandalism with a hate crime enhancement but also being out of compliance with sex offender registration requirements.

Amos is accused of spitting in an Asian woman’s face near the intersection of Potrero Avenue and Everett Street in El Cerrito, Contra Costa County on the morning of April 13, 2021, according to The Richmond Standard. The victim, whose name has yet to be released, said she did not know who he was.

According to the Asian woman, she just returned home and pulled her car into her garage when she noticed that Amos followed her. He allegedly shouted racial insults at her before spitting in her face.

At 9:25 a.m. that day, after Amos left, his victim called 911. An El Cerrito Police Department officer located him near the victim’s house and he was arrested.

The suspect is a convicted sex offender, CBS San Francisco has learned. He was booked into the Contra Costa County Jail in Martinez, Contra Costa County.
