Emiliano “He-Man” Sordi, 30, of Rio Cuarto, Cordoba, Argentina was one of the winners at “PFL 2: 2021 Regular Season.” It was the Argentine mixed martial artist’s seventh victory in the Professional Fighters League.
Featuring eight MMA matches, “PFL 2: 2021 Regular Season” took place at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, United States on April 29, 2021. In the fifth bout of the evening, Sordi fought ex-Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Chris Camozzi, 34, of Denver, Colorado, USA in the light heavyweight division.
Keith Peterson served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the light heavyweight bout was left in the hands of the judges.
In the end, Peterson raised the hand of Sordi, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision. The judges cored the bout 29-28, 29-28 and 28-27 all in favor of the fighter from Rio Cuarto.
It was Sordi’s first PFL fight that reached the third round. He now holds a professional MMA record of 23 wins and 8 losses.
During the “PFL 2: 2021 Regular Season” post-fight press conference, I asked Sordi if he was satisfied wiht his unanimous decision victory. He said he was not and that he was even embarrassed by his performance.
Sordi is now riding a six-bout winning streak. Before going on hiatus in 2020, he defeated five PFL opponents in 2019.
When Sordi made his PFL debut on August 30, 2018, he knocked out Jason Butcher, 36, of Huntington, West Virginia, USA in the first round. On October 13, 2018, the Rio Cuarto native was knocked out in the first round by Bozigit “Volk” Ataev, 42, of Dagestan, Russia, which marked the Argentine MMA fighter’s first and only loss in the PFL.
On June 6, 2019, Sordi knocked out Vinny “Pezao” Magalhaes, 36, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the second round. On August 8, 2019, the Argentine MMA fighter had a redemptive win by knocking out Ataev in the first round in their rematch.
On October 31, 2019, Sordi knocked out Sigi “Showtime” Pesaleli, 27, of Auckland, New Zealand in the first round and on the same day, the former submitted Ataev in the first round in their trilogy bout. On December 31, 2019, the Argentine MMA fighter knocked out Jordan “Big Swinging” Johnson, 32, of San Diego, California, USA in the first round.
