Wynne Lee, 23, and her boyfriend Marcus Anthony Eriz, 24, were arrested at their apartment in Costa Mesa, Orange County, California, United States on June 6, 2021. He is accused of fatally shooting Joanna Cloonan‘s son Aiden Anthony Leos, 6.
Represented by Tom Nocella, Lee was charged with being an accessory after the fact and illegally carrying a concealed firearm. Randall Bethune represents Eriz, who was charged with murder and shooting at an occupied vehicle and with enhancements.
On the morning of May 21, 2021, Lee was driving a white 2018 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen SE while Eriz was in the passenger’s seat. They were on their way to work.
On the same day, Cloonan was driving Leos to school. Their vehicle was a silver Chevrolet Sonic.
They crossed paths when Lee’s car cut Cloonan’s on the freeway in Orange, California. Leos’s mother responded by holding up her finger rudely, The Daily Herald has learned.
After hearing a loud bang, Cloonan pulled over and was shocked to see Leos bleeding from his chest. The boy was sitting in a booster seat in the back of the Chevrolet Sonic.

When Eriz, a gun enthusiast, was arrested, he admitted to police that he did pull out a gun and fire at the silver Chevrolet Sonic on the freeway that day. He explained that he got angry with Cloonan for making a rude gesture.
The 2018 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen SE Lee was driving was registered to her father in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles County, California, according to the Orange County Register. A co-worker later told Eriz that authorities were looking for a car similar to the one he used with his Lee.
Eriz then hid the 2018 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen SE in the garage of his grandmother’s house in Whittier, Los Angeles County. On the day of his arrest, the gun he allegedly used to shoot Leos and the car was recovered.
Lee is being held on $500,000 bail. Eriz is being held on $2 million bail.
