Rodney Ray Dunn arrested in Queens, New York 4 years after Asia Denay Wade’s death in Roanoke, Virginia

Rodney Ray Dunn, 36, has been arrested by the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was charged with second-degree murder.

Dunn is accused of killing Asia Denay Wade, a culinary arts student of Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Virginia, United States. On February 5, 2017, Roanoke Police Department officers found her unconscious and lying face down in the doorway of an apartment at the Shenandoah Village Apartments in Roanoke.

Wade had a gunshot wound and was taken to the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, WSLS reported. She was pronounced dead around 12:45 a.m. on February 6, 2017, which was three days before her 29th birthday.

On December 7, 2017, Roanoke Police Department spokesman Scott Leamon said Dunn had a warrant out for his arrest on a charge of second-degree murder. On June 18, 2021, he was arrested in Queens, New York City, New York, USA.


It was not the first time Dunn was arrested by the Roanoke Police Department. He was a Roanoke resident when he was arrested on October 4, 2016, according to WSET.

That day, Roanoke Police Department officers responded to a parking lot in Shenandoah Village, Roanoke where a caller said shots were heard. Dunn was seen holding a gun while running from the scene.

One of the officers had to tackle Dunn because he was not listening to their commands. He was booked into the Roanoke City Jail.
