Itzel E. Espinosa, 17, of Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, United States was fatally shot on July 3, 2021. She is Eduardo Espinosa and Elizabeth Diaz‘s daughter.
On July 1, 2021, Itzel went out with friends and that was the last time Eduardo and Diaz saw their daughter, according to the father. When the teenager did not return, her parents called police to make a missing person report.
“All young girls and all young adults out there, your parents care for you,” Eduardo told AZFamily. “They want the best for you. They want you to be a teenager, enjoy your best years, go out and have fun but have a limit, you know, (and) come home.”
Jesus Javier Valle Padilla, 19, allegedly gave a handgun to Lindsey Brianna Aguilar, 18, who is accused of fatally shooting Itzel. Lindsey and Itzel allegedly got into a fight and the latter was later found dead inside a car in an alley near 38th and Wier avenues in Phoenix.
After shooting Itzel, Aguilar handed back the handgun to Padilla and the two left the scene, according to police. On July 16, 2021, he was arrested and charged with first-degree murder by facilitation.
Padilla’s bail was set at $150,000. His preliminary hearing will be on July 26, 2021.
Another male suspect, 16, was also arrested, charged with abandonment of a body and booked into a juvenile detention center. On the other hand, Aguilar is still on the run.
