More than 15,000 women applied for the inaugural Miss Universe United Arab Emirates 2021. Only 300 of them were invited to a casting call on October 15, 2021 at Bagatelle restaurant in Fairmont Dubai in Dubai, UAE.
On October 20, 2021, Miss Lebanon 2004 Nadine Nassib Njeim was announced as one of the coronation night judges. From October 20, 2021, Miss Universe UAE started posting on its social media pages the photos of the official candidates dressed in Amato Couture and photographed by Lucas Alves.
Originally, Emirati model and artist Minwa Al Hamed was included in the list of the 30 official candidates but on October 24, 2021, she announced that she had to withdraw due to conflict of schedule. On the other hand, the Miss Universe UAE organization officially appointed her as the female advisor for empowerment and culture.
Josh Yugen is the president and national director of Miss Universe UAE. He is preparing the inaugural beauty pageant along with five other council members namely creative consultant Maggie Wilson, head of charities and philanthropy Alaf Meky, head of compassion and empowerment Zel Ali, head of creatives, fashion and design Furne Amato and head of communications Sharihan Al Mashary.
Applicants for Miss Universe UAE 2021 must be 18 to 28 years old, must have valid UAE identification cards and may be either a UAE citizen or a resident of the country for at least three years. There is no height requirement and there will be no swimsuit competition.
A total of 30 women were expected to compete for the Miss Universe UAE 2021 title but only 25 were announced. Here is the list of candidates:

The coronation night was supposed to be on November 7, 2021 at La Perle in Al Habtoor City, Dubai and the winner was supposed to represent the UAE at Miss Universe 2021 in Eilat, Israel on December 12, 2021. However, the inaugural Miss Universe UAE was cancelled due to time constraints.
