The republic of Bulgaria is a country is Southeast Europe. It is bordered by Romania to the north, the Black Sea to the east, Serbia and North Macedonia to the west and Greece and Turkey to the south.

On October 5, 1908, Bulgaria proclaimed itself an independent state. It joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in 2004 and the European Union in 2007.

Rumen Radev, 58, is the fifth and incumbent president of Bulgaria. He asumed office on January 22, 2017 and was reelected on November 14, 2021.
