Valeria Maria Ayos Bossa, 27, of Cartagena, Colombia was one of the five Miss Universe 2021 finalists. She was one of the early favorites in the 70th edition of the international beauty pageant based in New York, United States.
Ayos was born in Cartagena to a Spanish-Colombian father and a Trinidadian mother. Ayos attended Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Cartagena.
Representing Colombia, Ayos was Miss Earth-Water 2018 when she competed at Miss Earth 2018 on November 3, 2018. On October 18, 2021, she won Miss Universe Colombia 2018.
Hosted by Steve Harvey, 64, the Miss Universe 2021 coronation night was held at the Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel. Carson Kressley, 52, and Cheslie Kryst, 30, served as commentators during the event, which featured performances by Joanna Noëlle “JoJo” Levesque, 30, and Noa Kirel, 20.
It was the first time Miss Universe was held in Israel. Including Gomez, a total of 80 women competed for the crown.
Harnaaz Sandhu, 21, of India was crowned Miss Universe 2021 while Nadia Ferreira, 22, of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane, 24, of South Africa were the respective first and second runners-up. Ayos and Beatrice Luigi Gomez, 26, of Cebu City, Philippines finished in the Top 5.
