Beatrice Luigi Gomez, 26, of Cebu City, Philippines was one of the five Miss Universe 2021 finalists. She was one of the early favorites in the 70th edition of the international beauty pageant based in New York, United States.
Born in San Fernando, Cebu, Gomez attended the University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu City. She is the first openly bisexual woman to represent the Philippines in Miss Universe.
Gomez was Miss Mandaue 2015 and Binibining Cebu 2020. On September 30, 2021, she won Miss Universe Philippines 2021.
Hosted by Steve Harvey, 64, the Miss Universe 2021 coronation night was held at the Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel. Carson Kressley, 52, and Cheslie Kryst, 30, served as commentators during the event, which featured performances by Joanna Noëlle “JoJo” Levesque, 30, and Noa Kirel, 20.
It was the first time Miss Universe was held in Israel. Including Gomez, a total of 80 women competed for the crown.
Harnaaz Sandhu, 21, of India was crowned Miss Universe 2021 while Nadia Ferreira, 22, of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane, 24, of South Africa were the respective first and second runners-up. Gomez and Valeria Ayos, 27, of Colombia finished in the Top 5.
